Wednesday Wishlist - Fanciful Flats

Comfort no longer has to compromise style, flats just got fashionable!
Embrace Spring in your step by flaunting some of this seasons top trends.

Girlish pastels work well for the fashion conscious. Why not experiment with painting your toes in a contrasting shade to your open toed sandals or go matchy matchy with a complimentary polish?

Metallics have been crowned as the new black... It's easy to play it safe and throw on a pair of reliable black brogues but spend this Spring sparkling. Mix your metals and embrace embellishment- it's time to shine!

Get a glow! Statement neons are ideal for making an outfit pop. Go sporty with some zesty lime trainers or add a little zing to any ensemble with some sophisticated acid bright points.

Behind The Scenes SS14

Our Spring Summer 2014 campaign features our watches at one with a variety of beautiful creatures preserved from the British countryside.

Below are a few sneaky behind the scenes snapshots of the delicate set ups and our photographer in action!

An adorable array of taxidermy friends, including the fantastic Mr Fox (Greg) all make an appearance in our new campaign shoot. We wouldn't want to leave any one out.
The butterflies that feature have been preserved in England for over 100 years and are part of our co-founders personal collection, which were handed down by her great grandfather.

There is no time like the present, and no present like time..

Here at OB HQ we have put together a little Christmas wrapping inspiration to help take the pain out of wrapping that mound of presents.

We have found some creative ways to make your presents pop with Christmas cheer! Whether you're on a budget or are looking for something more luxurious we hope our ideas help inspire your wrapping this weekend...

Let us know if you give any of these a go!

Dainty Doilies

Dainty doilies add vintage charm when combined with plain paper and are an easy way to replicate snowflakes and a lace effect.

Just fold the doily in half and stick to your present with a little glue, celloptape or double sided sticky tape. If you wanted to jazz yours up why not add a little vintage rope and ribbon or some little bells which make fantastic present toppers.
Doilies: Pick up from a local pound shop or supermarket

 Tree Decorations

Why not use tree decorations like this super cute heart one to double up as gift tags and write your message on the reverse? They aren't an overly expensive option and rather than going in the bin after they can be used on the tree as a little memento, year in, year out. Cute!

Brown Paper

We are a little bit in love with with brown paper, not only is it bursting with vintage charm but it has roots back to Victorian times in England. The rich would use fancy paper decorated with ribbons and lace when presenting gifts but the paper tore too easily so they began using brown paper instead. We think it looks fabulous!

Let us know if you find an Olivia Burton watch under the Christmas tree!

Love sees no colour, only what's in your heart...

Here at OB we've been wanting to bring you some Party Inspiration in the run up to Christmas.
This season is all about the glitz and glamour and how better to achieve this gorgeous look than coordinating your Olivia Burton with magnificent nails, courtesy of CiatĂ©!

Elegance is key this Christmas, mix subtle berry tones with hints of glitter and gold for a real 'mulled wine' inspired look.

Inspired by Christmas tree trimmings, tinsel tones and heavy glitter we all want to sparkle during the festive season!

Stay sleek with classic shades, and incredible sheens, smooth patent and high-shine for the ultimate glamour!

Combine two top trends for the season - winter pastels and metallic tones. Rose gold hues look perfectly pulled off with the pastel pink.

Finally, we thought it'd be a great idea to pass on our 5 steps to removing glitter polish, as we know how awfully difficult it can be!

You will need 10 cotton wool balls, lots of nail varnish remover and some tin foil!
  1. Tear your tin foil into 10 strips, big enough to wrap around the cotton wool and your finger tip
  2. Saturate a cotton wool ball in nail varnish remover and place on your glittery nail
  3. Next, wrap the tin foil around your finger tip and ensure it's pretty snug, leave for 5 minutes
  4. Now... Twist! Apply a little pressure to your tips in a twisting motion then pull the foils off your fingers
  5. Voila! No more glittery nails... (For any stray bits, just grab another cotton wool ball and gently soak off again) you're now ready for another mani!

Aida Adventures

OB were recently invited to hang out with our friends at one of our trendiest stockists- Aida Shoreditch, as they hosted their 'PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION'!

Featuring works from five of the most talented photographers in East London, exhibits varied from cultural scenes and jaw dropping landscapes to edgy high fashion photography. The winner was voted for by the guests that evening and boy, was it a tough call...

Above are some shots from the winner Sergio Jensen (website linked), a freelance photographer living and working in London.

The event was bubbling with DJ's, live music and copious amounts of vino and all in a relaxed atmosphere full of some seriously stylish folk.

For those of you that haven't ventured down to visit the lovely Aida just yet, if you're London bound we would recommend a visit.

With some of the best cakes and coffee (& clothes) Shoreditch has to offer it's definitely a must to visit! If coffee isn't your thing maybe a spot of vintage inspired hair and make-up, they house the most adorable vintage set up at the back of the store!

Okay... so we admit that they're not really that scary, but if you're looking to put the pretty in pretty gruesome we have a little tutorial for you, cue our 'Halloween How To- Spooky Sparkly Pumpkin nails' Olivia Burton style!

Halloween is thought to have originated around 4000BC, which means it's been around for over 6000 years!

Did you know, the first Jack O'Lanterns were actually made from turnips! We really couldn't imagine doing a tutorial on turnip inspired nails.
And VOILĂ€! Your end result should look a little like this, the glitter sticking securely to the wet varnish tips to finish off your perfect Spooky Sparkly Pumpkins!
